Poson Celebrations at NDB with a Melodious Bhakthi Gee Competition

19 Jun 2023

In preparation for the Poson Poya, the Staff Recreation Club of National Development Bank (NDBSRC) 2023, held their annual Bhakthi Gee performance on the 1st of June, 2023 at the NDB Bank Head Office located in Nawam Mawatha. The event, which was the culmination of a long term project, was organized by the NDBSRC Committee for year 2023–2024 in accordance with their annual religious celebrations.

However, this year, the committee decided to extend an invitation to all NDB employees- including those from branches and departments, island wide, to participate in a friendly competition.

Subsequently, video entries were submitted by Business Banking, Card Center, Embilipitiya Branch, Fort Branch, Hanwella Branch, Human Resources, Leasing Recoveries, Legal Department, Mahawewa Branch, Nittambuwa Branch, Shared Services, SME Recoveries, and the Southern Region branch.

Visharada Niroshan Weerasekara, a renowned musician and candidate on the Voice Sri Lanka – Season 2, led the first round of auditions. Prior to the finals, Visharada Weerasekara selected eight videos based on the voice quality and pitch.

The selected finalists were provided with the opportunity to perform to a live audience on the 1st of June where they were judged by the distinguished musician and composer Rohana Bogoda.

The much coveted first place in the competition was awarded to the Mahawewa Branch, followed by the Southern Region and Human Resources, who secured second and third places respectively.

Along with the competition, the NDBSRC hosted an Ice Cream “Dansala” or alms-giving in celebrating the Poson.
