National Development Bank PLC was felicitated as the Winner of the Banking Sector as well as the Winner in Excellence in Capacity Building and the Runner Up in the Excellence in Corporate Governance award at the National Business Excellence Awards 2023, hosted by the National Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka (NCCSL) on the 20th June, at Shangri-La, Colombo.
Sanjaya Perera - Senior Vice President, Personal Banking & Customer Experience, and Damitha Silva - Assistant Vice President, Digital Financial Services, accepted the awards in the presence of a large gathering of top business leaders, business organisations from across the country, and diplomatic missions.
The breadth of NDB’s performance at the National Business Excellence Awards is a strong affirmation of the sustained performance that the Bank maintains across the different facets of the organisation. NDB has been able to generate meaningful value to a wide range of its stakeholders, even amidst the most turbulent times.
The Bank continued to innovate in its customer solutions with the aid of digital technology and enhance internal processes through the deployment of sophisticated technology such as Robotic Process Automation. This, together with measures towards building the capabilities of the Bank’s Human capital, earned it the award for Excellence in Capacity Building.

The National Business Excellence Awards is an annual awards competition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) with a view to recognising business enterprises that display business excellence across multiple aspects. Widely hailed as the pinnacle award for business excellence in the local domain, the evaluation process that led to winners being selected comprised both a written application from the Bank and an interview conducted by a panel of judges with the Bank’s top management.
