The GCR (Greater Colombo Region) Regional Financial Advisory Programme, organised by NDB Bank, was held recently, at the Sanora Restaurant & Reception Hall, Thalawathugoda. The advisory programme which was organized under the theme, “Banking on Women” is part of NDB’s sustainability initiative aimed at empowering women by improving financial inclusivity, gender equity, and supporting women-led organisations.
The event which was the very first workshop to be conducted this year saw the attendance of an estimated 50 female entrepreneurs in the Sri Lanka. The Advisory Programme consisted of a credit awareness session conducted by Mr. Chandima Alwis, the Regional Manager for the Greater Colombo Region of NDB Bank, as well as a session on the refinancing facility for women entrepreneurs headed by Mr. Kapila Deshapriya, Head of Refinance at the bank.
Driven under the Araliya brand, Banking on Women is a key strategic focus of the bank, which aspires to empower women by providing a dedicated holistic banking proposition targeting women entrepreneurs in the country. NDB Araliya comprises financial assistance from loans to credit cards, savings options with the added benefit of insurance coverage for accountholders and immediate family members, and a wide range of advisory support services. The bank also facilitates several initiatives such as knowledge sharing sessions, awareness programmes, facility request discussions and customer engagement activities in order to shatter traditional and cultural biases and present women with ample opportunities to develop skills and become successful in the Sri Lankan economy. The successful conclusion of the GCR Regional Financial Advisory programme is a testament to NDB’s continued efforts in championing and empowering women.
