Investing in a heritage of craftsmanship: NDB conducts workshop for Mask makers in Ambalangoda
NDB conducted a special workshop for entrepreneurs in the mask making industry in Ambalangoda. The workshop held in collaboration with the National Design Centre, National Craft Council, Export Development Board (EDB), Lakpahana and Laksala focused on providing the traditional mask makers with market insight and contemporary business know-how in a bid to empower them to take the sluggish industry into new heights. The event attracted over 50 mask industrialists from the area. A colorful range of skilled creations of masks were also on display at the workshop for potential buyers such as Laksala and Lakpahana that attended the event.

NDB Reports Strong Financial Results in the First Quarter 2012 .
NDB reported strong financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012 and has made significant progress during the period. The Banking Revenue for the quarter was Rs 2,064 million, an increase of Rs 611 million, or 42 percent, over the same period in 2011. The Profit After Tax during the quarter increased by Rs 506 million, or 115 percent compared to the same period in the prior year.

National Development Bank PLC (NDB) recently partnered with United Motors Lanka PLC to offer leasing facilities for Mitsubishi Fuso commercial vehicles. NDB Leasing can be obtained with the unique benefit of not requiring guarantors or down payments. Further, the processing of the facility is done in one day, enabling customers to drive away with their preferred Mitsubishi Fuso truck. NDB Group profits increase by 35% to Rs. 2.9 billion
The NDB Group’s Profit After Tax for the year was Rs 2.94 bn, an impressive growth of 35% over the previous year. The Profit Attributable to Shareholders for the year was 2.70 bn and compares with Rs 2.1 bn for 2010, a growth of 29%. This significant increase in group profits was attributable to the growth in the core banking income of NDB by 13% over the previous year and the improved performance of the fee based group companies.

NDB Bank’s Profit After Tax up by 32% for the 9 months ended 30 September 2011
NDB Bank’s core banking profits increased by 19% over the corresponding period last year. A commendable performance , despite the pressure on interest margins & the re-pricing effect on investments in the Government Securities portfolio. These have largely been offset by the impressive growth in the Bank’s lending portfolio by 31% and the deposits mobilized by 23% during the 9 month period, which infact are ahead of the industry growth rates . The marked to market loss of Rs 46 mn as compared with an income of Rs 301 mn last year on its quoted equity portfolio restricted NDB Bank’s profit after Tax increase to 32%.
